Nauman Companies

Nauman stands on a deep family heritage. The company dates back to the early 1900’s when farming was the business of the day. As a result of a physical accident, Peter S. Nauman turned to the carpentry business. With a handful of employees at its present location near Willow Street the crews began making wood truck beds.

Incorporated in 1966, six generations have been involved in the success of Nauman — Peter, Henry, Milton, Henry W., Glenn and Dennis Nauman. Today Nauman is solely owned by current President and Chief Executive Officer Gerald S. Breneman and employs 32 in the various operations of the business.

Custom homes led the way. By the 1960’s Nauman was considered the premier Lancaster County custom home builder, known for outstanding quality and service. Nauman Cabinetry, the custom cabinet division of the company, sprang from the need for cabinetry in the custom homes. Quality became the Nauman legacy, and it continues today as home owners selling their homes are proud to say, "Nauman Built".

The 1970's was a decade of change: Commercial construction flourished. Today the commercial construction arena is where 95% of Nauman's work is concentrated. Nauman's accomplishments shine in all areas of commercial construction — retail, medical, churches — in Lancaster County and surrounding areas. Nauman takes pride in being the company of choice for clients who require outstanding quality and attention to detail, dependability, and honesty.

Employees connect with the values and mission of Nauman and they stay. The average length of employment is over 19 years! An emphasis on respect and fairness in all relationships creates bonds of loyalty and saves the high costs associated with employee turnover.

North Group is privileged to partner with Nauman. While being a successful business for several generations is already a source of pride, leaders at Nauman recognize this can be an ideal atmosphere for "narrow" thinking and even complacency. They've invited North Group to provide them with the tools necessary to plan for the future while learning from their past.
