They wanted to elevate the controller role to a full-time position and hire an individual with the skills and characteristics to fit their organization and its need.
We chose to do an organizational assessment in order to fully understand the organization and some of its unique aspects – family ownership, high values culture and a strong brand to protect. To that end, we interviewed selected employees and created a candidate profile that identified the characteristics, skills and experiences an ideal candidate would need to be successful in the position.
Then we followed our proprietary hiring process from drafting the ad to interviewing candidates and making recommendations to company leadership. The search extended longer than expected because of their keen focus on what they wanted in this individual. When we ultimately had good candidates, we knew we were going to find a perfect match.
They got the perfect match. We recommended several candidates along with our assessment and overview of what they brought to the organization, including pros and cons. Then the client did final interviews and chose the best candidate.
